The five essential elements for successful threatened species conservation are Research and Planning, Removing Threats, Restoring Habitat, Recovering Species, and Retaining Gains.

Through the implementation of these recovery actions the Department for Environment and Heritage is safeguarding these threatened species against extinction in the Northern and Yorke Region. Our threatened species recovery program is supported by the Northern and Yorke Natural Resources Management Board and is an integral part of the Board's commitment to biodiversity conservation in the region.

Potential Research Projects

Staff from the Northern and Yorke Region of the Department for Environment and Heritage and members of the threatened species recovery teams are keen to work in partnership with postgraduate students and other groups on research projects aimed at increasing our knowledge about the biology and ecology of our threatened species.
